Well there goes another weekend. As a married man in his 40′s, I like to spend time with my wife and kids. My kids are teenagers so they are getting more independent and don’t spend every waking hour with us like they did when they were kids. We have always got together for movie nights though. Usually on the weekend we will get a movie or 3, some goodies and set up in the front room for a movie marathon. We’ve always done that. Lately though my wife and I have been watching dvd’s of classic TV shows. It started with my son buying a few seasons of Gilligan’s Island. We told him how it was a big show when we were growing up and he loved it. He then got The Beverly Hillbillies and loved that too. We got the Seinfeld collection and discovered a great show that I never watched before. Now we are watching Little House on the Prairie and next we have The Waltons.

It’s been great discovering these old show again. They really are classics. I know what you might be thinking. Those old shows are lame! Who would ever watch them?

I think you should give them another go. Those old comedies are just as funny as anything on TV today. I dare you to watch an episode of I Love Lucy and not laugh. I remember watching MASH as a kid. Tell me 1 show that can compare with that! These old shows were an escape from life just like the new shows are today… but they were a little more wholesome than what we see now. Take your pick. There are tons of old shows to rediscover again and show your kids.

Don’t get me wrong. There are some great shows on TV today. I’m just saying you should check out some of the old classics. It’ll take you back to yesteryear and give you some great entertainment to boot!

Well… gotta go. John boy needs me to help him collect the eggs!waltons
